SUCCESS!! Robyn WINS with support from Hand in Hand Social Work!

Robyn’s NDIS Victory: A Fighter’s Spirit and Hand in Hand Social Work’s Dedication!

In Queensland, my client Robyn’s battle with Meniere’s Disease—a chronic inner ear condition causing vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, and balance issues—showcases her unyielding determination and the power of committed advocacy.

With my business, Hand in Hand Social Work, supporting her, Robyn secured vital NDIS supports, transforming her life against tough odds.

Meniere’s Disease, named after Prosper Ménière, affects thousands of Australians with sudden vertigo and hearing loss, often disrupting mobility.

Initially granted NDIS access for Deafness caused by Meniere’s, her request for a lightweight wheelchair and support workers was denied, as the agency overlooked Meniere’s balance impacts.

Unwilling to accept defeat, Robyn applied to the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART), which replaced the AAT in October 2024, and then sought my help at Hand in Hand Social Work to strengthen her case.

Robyn’s insights into Meniere’s educated me, and I undertook research to deepen my understanding of the condition’s complexities. With this knowledge, I bolstered her ART case with robust medical evidence highlighting her mobility needs, arguing that Meniere’s was the “primary” disability affecting Robyn’s life. Despite the ART’s new processes and potential delays, Robyn’s resolve and my advocacy secured a win!!

Last week, Robyn received her wheelchair and support workers, reclaiming her freedom. Photos of Robyn smiling beside her wheelchair capture her triumph. “Phillip joined my fight and made it stronger,” she said.

My business, Hand in Hand Social Work, thrives on supporting clients like Robyn to navigate NDIS and ART challenges, offering advocacy services nationwide.
